For my money, the best Pixel for most people is the Pixel 5A (449$).
The Pixel 5A: Features
One of the few phones with an OLED display that costs less than $500, the Pixel 5A receives a score of 9 out of 10 and comes highly recommended by the publication. The Qualcomm processor that is housed inside provides some of the most fluid performance you can find for the price, and its 4,680-mAh battery can go over two full days on a single charge. Hooray! You also get 5G connectivity (sub-6, which is the slower version), NFC (a payment system) for Google Pay, a fingerprint sensor on the back, and the highly desirable headphone jack. The icing on the cake is that it comes with three years’ worth of software and security updates, which is significantly longer than what most inexpensive phones receive. A water-resistance rating of IP67, which the Pixel 5A has, is also unusual for low-end and middle-tier smartphones. This grade indicates that the phone can withstand being immersed in water of up to one meter deep for half an hour. The unibody of the phone is now made of aluminum as opposed to plastic, which gives it a little more durability. Additionally, the phone’s screen size of 6.3 inches does not make it too cumbersome to carry. The results obtained by its dual camera system are superior to those obtained by practically every other smartphone available in its price range (and some pricier ones too). This is especially true in low-light settings, thanks to Google’s Night Sight function, which stacks multiple images to produce brighter and more detailed photographs than could be achieved using a single image alone. You can take pictures of the stars if you place your phone on a tripod in a dark area and activate the “Astrophotography” option on your device.
Disadvantages
The most significant drawbacks? There is no support for wireless charging, and there is no way to expand the storage beyond 128 gigabytes because there is no slot for a MicroSD card. There is also not a high screen refresh rate, which is a characteristic that is becoming increasingly popular (it makes the screen look smoother) and can even be found on phones that cost $300. Also, because of problems with the worldwide supply chain, this particular phone is only available in two countries: the United States and Japan. Google and Google Fi customers can purchase a Pixel 5A for $449.
The Pixel 6A: Features
The Pixel 6A, which is the successor to the Pixel 5A and will be on sale for $449. It is superior to other mobile devices in almost every respect: It is equipped with the same Tensor processor that is found in Google’s flagship Pixel 6, which means that it is more powerful and offers all of the same software features as Google’s most expensive phone. The camera is the same as the one found in the Pixel 5A, although thanks to the processor, it should see some minor improvements. Even though the Pixel 6A is smaller and has a screen size of 6.1 inches, you shouldn’t expect it to last for two days on a single charge. You get better support for 5G here, as well as three Android upgrades and five years of security updates. Additionally, it will be more readily available, since it’s to be released in thirteen countries and offered by a variety of stores. It is unfortunate that Google decided to do away with the headphone jack. The company has said that it will continue to offer the Pixel 5A, and it is still an excellent smartphone for the price. If you need a new phone right now and want a headphone port, you shouldn’t hesitate to get the 5A or others. But if you’re not interested in it and you’re not exactly in a hurry, you should hold off and wait for the Pixel 6A.
Is Pixel Pass Worth It?
Google has announced a new method for purchasing its smartphones via the Google Store with the launch of the Pixel 6 smartphone. You may buy the relevant phone for $55 per month for the Pixel 6 Pro, $45 per month for the Pixel 6, and $37 per month for the incoming Pixel 6A. After two years, you will have the chance to switch to a newer Pixel device. This brings the total cost of the Pixel 6 Pro to $1,320, while the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6A each come in at $1,080 and $888 respectively. What gives, considering that they have suggested retail prices of $899, $599, and $449 respectively? You also obtain Google’s Preferred Care, which covers accidental damage, screen repairs, and replacements for the same period of time, in addition to receiving 200 GB of cloud storage space through Google One, YouTube Premium (which removes advertisements), and YouTube Music Premium at no additional cost. You will also get Google Play Pass, which provides access to applications and games without any advertisements or in-app purchases, in addition to potential future deals on the Google Store that have not yet been mentioned.
